NUTR 548 - Natural Supplements and Integrative Medicine Description: Scientific evidence supports the notion that food choices and specific supplements can improve health. This course focuses on dietary supplements and select nutrients to address health concerns using an integrative, evidence-based approach to medicine.
Prerequisites: Prerequisite: students must be in the dietetic internship or have graduate level standing.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Recognize the potential role of supplements in preventive medicine and
- the management of common medical conditions
- Discuss current research and literature related to natural supplements.
- Examine through evidence-based summaries, key supplements used in
- clinical practice, including their indications, side effects, interactions and
- contraindications.
- Formulate a patiet care treatment program that integrates supplements
- in integrative medicine and in the management of common medical
- conditions
- Debate and analyze novel use of supplements in complementary care.
