ASP 585 - Accessibility Studies Capstone


Description:
Culminating experience for Accessibility Studies. Includes exit exam; research project; scholarly presentation; public service announcement; exit interview. Enrollment permission contingent on demonstrated research methods proficiency. ASP 485 and ASP 585 are layered courses; students may not receive credit for both. Permission of instructor.

Prerequisites:
Pre or Co-requisite: ASP 505 and ASP 525 and ASP 535. Acceptance by the School of Graduate Studies. Acceptance in the Accessibility Studies Graduate Certificate Program.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Identify common barriers to inclusive information in terms of content and medium.
  • Analyze rhetorical implications of accessible information design.
  • Define and illustrate guidelines.
  • Identify and assess technological applications useful for making information accessible.
  • Interpret policy and law as applied to making advertising and other public communication accessible.
  • Outline stakeholder responsibilities and interactions.
  • Survey current peer-reviewed literature regarding issues of accessibility.
