HRM 550 - Human Resource Foundations Description: This course provides a systems approach to managing human resources in organizations. Topics include recruitment and selection, diversity, employment law, training and development, performance management, and reward systems.
Prerequisites: Prerequisite: admission to the Graduate Professional Human Resource Management Certificate, or by department permission.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Analyze trends in the labor force composition and how they impact human resource management practice.
- Prescribe how to strategically plan for the human resources needed to meet organizational goals and objectives.
- Explain how legislation impacts human resource management practice.
- Compare and contrast methods used for selection and placement of human resources.
- Prescribe the steps required to develop and evaluate an employee training program.
