EDU 503 - Adolescent Development and Learning for Teachers Description: Theoretical perspectives and empirical research on adolescent development and their implications for teaching and learning in contemporary schools.
Prerequisites: Prerequisites: Must be accepted into the Teacher Certification MAT Program. Must have successfully completed the following courses with B- or higher: EDU 532 and EDU 572 and EDU 582 and (EDSE 502 for students enrolled in the secondary and K-12 specialization) and (EDSE 524 for students enrolled in the special education specialization). Taken concurrently with: EDU 563 and EDU 573 and EDU 583 and (EDSE 520 for students enrolled in the special education specialization).

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Explain the significance and influence of diverse contexts of adolescence: family environments, peer groups, schools, and environments where adolescents work and spend leisure time. [Comprehension]
- Develop a theoretical and practical approach to assessing adolescent behavior in the classroom [Synthesis]
- Connect and reflect links between adolescent development theory and research and appropriate classroom practice [Evaluation]
- Develop and adapt teaching practices using educational psychology research regarding normative adolescent growth and development. [Evaluation]
