HPE 561 - Tactical Applications to Movement Development and Sport

This course examines how the tactical games approach can be applied at elementary and secondary levels in a variety of developmentally appropriate sports and activities.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Recognize the value of research based best practices in physical education
Identify and Demonstrate a knowledge of the phases and stages of movement development.
Interpret and prescribe knowledge and best practices and skills directly related to improving physical literacy among K-12 students
Identify research proven practices based on age and developmentally appropriate progressions.
Develop appropriate sequences to help students achieve proficiency of propulsive and receptive skills
Differentiate between appropriate and inappropriate practices
Construct developmentally appropriate lessons plans based on actual students
Understand the differences of youth in relation to skills and maximizing success
Suggest realistic solutions for some of the major challenges in physical education.
Identify and utilize useful online resources
Construct/modify and justify current practices in an online forum for discussions
