HPE 561 - Tactical Applications to Movement Development and Sport


Description:
This course examines how the tactical games approach can be applied at elementary and secondary levels in a variety of developmentally appropriate sports and activities.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Recognize the value of research based best practices in physical education
  • Identify and Demonstrate a knowledge of the phases and stages of movement development.
  • Interpret and prescribe knowledge and best practices and skills directly related to improving physical literacy among K-12 students
  • Identify research proven practices based on age and developmentally appropriate progressions.
  • Develop appropriate sequences to help students achieve proficiency of propulsive and receptive skills
  • Differentiate between appropriate and inappropriate practices
  • Construct developmentally appropriate lessons plans based on actual students
  • Understand the differences of youth in relation to skills and maximizing success
  • Suggest realistic solutions for some of the major challenges in physical education.
  • Identify and utilize useful online resources
  • Construct/modify and justify current practices in an online forum for discussions
