The course is designed to provide the pedagogical content knowledge and skills necessary to teach comprehensive, skills-based health education in the K-12 setting. Permission of instructor.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Implement trust builders, energizers, and games into scheduled teaching experiences.
Implement active learning teaching strategies for use virtually and in-person classroom settings.
Write cognitive, affective, and psychomotor behavioral objectives that include proper outcomes, criteria and conditions.
Write formal lesson and unit plans for school health education utilizing the HECAT Healthy Behavior Outcomes.
Create and implement formative and summative assessment strategies to k-12 students.
Locate and use quality health education information, lesson plans, resources, and web sites.
Design and deliver a 3-lesson unit on a selected health topic and NHES skill standard.
