HPE 558 - Instructional Models in Physical Education

Description:
Investigation of current teaching methodologies and trends in instructional design in physical education. Formerly PE 561, students may not receive credit for both.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Recognize current curriculum trends in physical education
Interpret how these teaching models can be used in their (or any) Physical Education program.
Defend and apply knowledge of various curricular models including: project adventure, movement education/ skill themes, sport education, teaching games for understanding, fitness-based (PE 4 Life), personal and social responsibility, and culturally studies curriculum.
Demonstrate the ability to create a unit plan based on one or more curriculum models
Revise units to include model based pedagogical practices.
