ENG 512 - Introduction to English Graduate Study Description: Introduction to literary studies and research methods at the graduate level. Required of all MA English: Literary Studies and Teaching Specialization candidates.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Formulate questions and analysis appropriate to literary studies.
- Demonstrate knowledge of scholarly research tools and skills necessary to explore and respond to questions in literary criticism.
- Articulate and synthesize the arguments of literary critics whose work informs literary studies.
- Write an extended critical paper that advances a scholarly thesis, utilizes a coherent theoretical approach, and integrates relevant literary criticism.
- Cite and document scholarly research according to MLA conventions.
