ACCT 700 - Master’s Thesis, Project Study, and/or Examination


Description:
Designed to credit and record supervised study for the master’s thesis, non-thesis project, studio project, public recital, and/or examination. May be repeated for credit. Grade will either be S or U.

Prerequisites:
Prerequisite: admission to the Master of Professional Accountancy Program.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Articulate research objectives clearly.
  • Formulate one or more novel research questions based on existing literature.
  • Develop an executable research design that identifies proper data sources and analytical methods.
  • Collect and model data to assess the validity of claims or hypotheses.
  • Present research results through a clear and polished thesis manuscript pf publishable quality.

Assessments:

  • The student will produce a master’s thesis manuscript of publishable quality. The thesis will be assessed as satisfactory or unsatisfactory on the basis of whether and to what extent the thesis manuscript:
    • Defines research scope and goal(s);
    • Demonstrates command of the topic(s);
    • Employs proper research method(s); and 
    • States a conclusion that is supported by empirical findings.
