Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Distinguish the similarities and differences among theories of individual development from birth through adolescence.
- Examine the biological, neurological, and physiological factors that affect development, functioning, and behavior of youth including the effects of adverse childhood experiences.
- Construct a general framework for understanding differing abilities and strategies for differentiated interventions.
- Predict the effects of diverse influences on individual development, including the impact of a variety of national, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
- Evaluate culturally relevant strategies for promoting resilience and optimum development for youth.
