SHM 574 - Advanced Safety Management Description: Examines the dynamics of safety management in complex business entities, including safety management systems, human error, prevention through design, and management of change, in order to align safety as a core element of business operations. Course will be offered on even numbered years (Winter).
Prerequisites: Prerequisites: SHM 501 and admitted into SHM MS program.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Develop safety survey and audit forms to recognize hazards in a work environment
- Summarize and explain the results of a safety audit using written and oral communication
- Prioritize recommendations for controls or corrective actions that are aligned with the strategic plan of an organization
- Propose recommendations for effective management of change within an organization
- Evaluate the role of human factors in organizational culture change
