SAA 586 - Athletic Budgeting, Finance, and Fundraising Description: The exploration and applications of budgeting and fundraising philosophies, considerations, strategies, and timelines for athletic programs. Students will examine various development and planning processes for athletic budgeting and fundraising, including the consideration of equity principles. By instructor permission. Formerly HPE 586, students may not receive credit for both.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Summarize the different philosophies and strategies of budgeting in athletics.
- Create and apply budgeting models and time lines for select athletic programs.
- Evaluate budget requests for athletic teams and revise so that they align with athletic department guidelines and protocols.
- Generate an annual athletic department budget using Microsoft Excel as a budgeting tool.
- Develop marketing and fundraising strategies for an athletic program.
- Design and present a promotion to a program’s constituency (such as a booster club) for the purpose of fundraising for an athletic program.
