PUBH 420 - Women’s Health Issues Description: Examines selected health issues and their physical and emotional effects on women. Examples of topics include: body image, eating disorders, sexuality, reproductive health, violence, and chronic disease, among others. The course will examine vulnerable sub-populations, both in the U.S. and globally, and discuss the political, social, and cultural climates that influence the health of women.

The presentation and report will be graded upon a rubric. The rubric will assess completeness of coverage of the socio-cultural and environmental influences, health impact, and current interventions aimed to promote health.
|
Students will identify and examine the health status/issues of a vulnerable sub-population and evaluate the historical and contemporary treatment of the sub-population in the health care system.
