HIST 484 - Modern Japan Description: The recent historical development of Japan beginning with the collapse of the Tokugawa Shogunate and the resumption of foreign contacts in the mid-19th century. Emphasis is given to the modernization process with its concomitant political, social, economic, and intellectual changes.

Repeatable for Credit No Grading Basis GRDNotes: HIST 484 and HIST 584 are equivalent courses. Students may not receive credit for both.
