Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Certificate

The GIS certificate provides recognition for students completing the required number of GIS-related classes at a high level of competence (minimum plan GPA of 2.7). Certification will provide students with a powerful tool to assist their future job searches.

Program Learner Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Gather and create geographic data for use with cartography and spatial analysis.
  • Compose intuitive, honest, and useful maps in both paper and digital formats.
  • Apply geographic analysis tools and models toward decision making.
  • Use strategies for ethical decision making when working with sensitive geographic data and maps.
