The bachelor of science degree in clinical physiology specifically prepares students to enter careers in healthcare. The curriculum enables students to pursue graduate or specialized post-baccalaureate professional programs in a variety of critical high-demand healthcare arenas including physical therapy, occupational therapy, physicians’ assistants, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, sports medicine-athletic training, chiropractic medicine, and others. This degree also prepares students for advanced graduate study in integrated human physiology and exercise physiology. Most clinical healthcare professions require education beyond the bachelor degree level. Additional courses may be needed to satisfy all prerequisites for admission eligibility to some graduate and professional programs.
A grade of C or higher is required in all pre-admission, required courses, and elective courses in this major.
Program Learner Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- explain the links between human structure and physiological function as it applies to both preserving health and developing disease;
- evaluate and assess several factors related to human health with emphasis on behavioral aspects and their impact on clinical pathologies and disease;
- critically evaluate and interpret scientific evidence derived from studies on both healthy and clinical populations;
- utilize an interdisciplinary knowledge base rooted in scientific discovery to apply multidisciplinary principles for the prevention and treatment of human disease; and
- apply classroom knowledge and laboratory skill acquisition in real world clinical settings and clinical patient care.
