The department of Sport and Movement Studies at CWU offers the Health and Physical Education Graduate Certificate - Endorsable program designed to enhance the knowledge and skills necessary to be an effective educator in school health and physical education. The fully online format meets the needs of professionals working in the educational field seeking the academic requirements established by the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction leading to certification in the endorsement area of Health and Fitness.
Admission Requirements
Applicants for the Health and Physical Education Graduate Graduate Certificate - Endorsable program are expected to meet the admission requirements of the School of Graduate Studies and Research and must have completed a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university (academic transcripts to be submitted). Applicants must submit a copy of a valid teaching certification in an endorsement area, and/or evidence of extensive related practical experience. Graduation Requirements
All students are required to have a minimum of a 3.00 cumulative grade point average in order to graduate with a graduate certificate from Central Washington University. Current registered courses must be completed by the last day of the current quarter.

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Plan lessons and units that integrate effective teaching practices that align with state and national standards in health and physical education.
- Evaluate a variety of content and pedagogical practices that meet developmental appropriateness in health and physical education.
- Analyze instructional and managerial teaching practices in health and physical education.
- Design lessons that integrate current technological applications and grant writing practices in health and physical education.
- Synthesize research to solve real-world problems through project-based learning relating to health and physical education.
