COM 371 - Event Planning and Management Description: A comprehensive study of the event management field, enabling participants to develop an innovative and multi-skilled approach to planning and coordination events. Topics include: legal issues in event planning and coordination promotions, design, catering, etc.
Prerequisites: Prerequisite: admission to the communication, public relations, or hospitality, tourism, and event management major, minor or certificate program or permission of instructor.
Credits: (4) Contact Hours: 4
Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- survey the history, principles, practices and techniques of event management in the public relations field,
- appraise the public relations strategic event management process that includes research, design, planning, coordination and evaluation,
- analyze legal, ethical and risk management issues in event planning in the public relations field, and
- design a public relations event using a strategic process.
