COM 442 - CentralNewsWatch Description: Gather, write and report news stories for newscasts to be aired on cable and/or distributed online and through social media. In managerial positions: plan and produce newscasts. May be repeated up to 24 credits.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Conduct broadcast interviews in a professional setting.
- Develop news judgement and identify stories of significance to the audience.
- Write broadcast style.
- Produce an as-if-live report or a studio hit to demonstrate their ability to communicate story messages.
- Rrewrite stories for use in other media.
- Employ professional code of ethics when dealing with ethical dilemmas pertaining to gathering and reporting news.
- For students who have roles of managers only: Identify story running order during a newscast as part of the role of news producer.
- For students who have roles of managers only: Create a newscast that incorporate news values.
- For students who have roles of managers only: Demonstrate concern for professional standards for each newscast.
- For students who have roles of managers only: Mentor and train reporters.
