ASP 530 - Reasonable Accessibility Accommodations


Description:
Use a collaborative universal design approach to determine reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities. Enhance accessibility in the physical and social environments within educational and workplace settings to align with policy and best practices. ASP 430 and ASP 530 are layered courses; students may not receive credit for both.

Prerequisites:
Prerequisite: graduate standing and ASP 305 or ASP 505.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Analyze relevant laws considering the accommodation process including the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Rehabilitation Act, and state and institutional laws and policies.  
  • Evaluate settings for universal design solutions to diminish the need for accommodations. 
  • Create appropriate accommodations given specific case details.
  • Design ways to work with stakeholders in the accommodation process.
  • Read, write, and communicate professionally.
