ETS 330 - The Latinx Experience


Description:
Examines the experiences of Latinx groups in the U.S. covering Mexican, Central American, Puerto Rican, Dominican, and Cuban communities; their history, their experiences with prejudice and discrimination, and their efforts to realize the American dream.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: 

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the cultural and racial differences among various Latinx groups in the United States.
  • Compare and contrast the unique historical experiences of the Latinx groups in the United States.
  • Analyze the preexisting attitudes, behaviors, and institutional structures that influence the conception (social construction) and treatment (discrimination) of Latinx groups in the United States.
  • Distinguish and analyze the contributions of the Latinx groups to the United States.
