MUS 417B - Vocal Chamber Music

Description:
One hour coaching plus two hours rehearsal per week plus all scheduled rehearsals and performances. MUS 217B and MUS 417B are layered courses; a student may not receive credit for both.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Identify and demonstrate musical skills used in small ensemble collaboration (cueing gestures, eye contact, score reading), particularly related to thorough preparation and security of material in one on a part ensembles without a conductor.
Identify and demonstrate interpersonal skills necessary in small ensemble collaboration (including self-esteem and self-reliance), particular to small group rehearsals and performances without a conductor (or faculty leader).
Demonstrate appropriate performance of individual tone, technique and musicianship.
Apply proper stylistic interpretation to specific musical material based on the period, language, composer and genre.
Evaluate vocal chamber music literature from various periods, countries and genres.
