MUS 217B - Vocal Chamber Music Description: One hour coaching plus two hours rehearsal per week plus all scheduled rehearsals and performances. MUS 217B and MUS 417B are layered courses; a student may not receive credit for both.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify and demonstrate musical skills used in small ensemble collaboration (cueing gestures, eye contact, score reading), particularly related to thorough preparation and security of material in one on a part ensembles without a conductor.
- Identify and demonstrate interpersonal skills necessary in small ensemble collaboration (including self-esteem and self-reliance), particular to small group rehearsals and performances without a conductor (or faculty leader).
- Demonstrate appropriate performance of individual tone, technique and musicianship.
- Apply proper stylistic interpretation to specific musical material based on the period, language, composer and genre.
- Evaluate vocal chamber music literature from various periods, countries and genres.
