LAJ 360 - Sex Crime and Sexual Offending Description: The course examines sex offender laws (i.e. Megan’s law), social reactions toward sex offenders, and criminal justice approaches to sex offender management (i.e. sentencing, corrections/treatment, or policing).

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Critically evaluate the impact of the various sex offender laws codified over the past 20 to 30 years.
- Understand the evidence-based criminal justice responses to sex crimes/sex offenders both in prison and in the community.
- Examine the realities facing sex offenders in the current social climate.
- Explore and discuss the contemporary perspectives on sex offender rehabilitation.
- Evaluate and discuss ethical issues related to sex offenders in the community.
