PHYS 454 - Acoustics Description: Theory, applications, and laboratory techniques related to sound and vibration. Topics include: wave propagation, structural vibration, and interaction between sound and structures. Course will be offered on odd numbered years (Spring).
Prerequisites: Prerequisites: MATH 376 and PHYS 361 and (PHYS 351 or PHYS 342), or instructor permission.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Develop mathematical models of sound radiation, outdoor propagation, and structural vibration.
- Solve problems in acoustics using the following mathematical techniques:
- differential equations
- Fourier analysis
- eigenvalue equations
- complex variables
- Predict the behavior of vibrational and acoustic systems using computational methods.
- Design, set up, and evaluate acoustics and vibration measurement systems.
- Analyze measurement data with signal processing tools.
