Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe how language can differ in terms of grammar and vocabulary.
- Explain the importance of language in doing anthropological research and fieldwork.
- Describe theories regarding language origin and how and why language develops in various ways.
- Name and define the design features of language.
- Explain how sociocultural factors bring about language variations and innovations and how they are studied.
- Apply methods and techniques used in linguistic anthropology for language analysis.
