EDU 561 - Methods and Models Instruction


Description:
Teaching methodologies for heterogeneous classroom settings. Differentiating instructional techniques to effectively accomplish specific learning goals for students’ diverse learning backgrounds and needs. 

Prerequisites:

Prerequisites: must be accepted in the Teacher Certification MAT Program. Taken concurrently with EDU 551 and EDU 531 or EDSE 531.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Discuss research-based instructional strategies and techniques that engage all students. [Comprehension]
  • Relevancy of methods as connected with national, state, and local standards affecting accountability [Comprehension]
  • Evaluation of learning and teaching styles on the choice of instructional models. [Application]
  • Mastery of research-based instructional strategies with basis in acceptable psychological theory and philosophic background. [Application]
  • Rigorous conceptual understanding, creative thought, and problem solving, encouraging students’ important roles as social entities [Synthesis]
  • Video tape demonstration of candidate teaching one activity from constructed lesson plan unit. [Synthesis]
  • Evaluate your reflective awareness of the role of teacher in creating classroom culture, climate and learning for all students. [Analysis]
