SHM 582 - EHS Research Methods Description: Covers research methods in environmental health and safety (EHS). Topics include: scientific methods, research design, report writing, interpretation of existing research, development of research problems, and capstone project pre-proposal preparation with literature review. Course will be offered on odd numbered years (Spring).
Prerequisites: Prerequisites: SHM 502 and SHM 578 and admitted into SHM MS program.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe research methods and designs used in the environmental health and safety (EHS) discipline.
- Select a real-world EHS problem for the capstone project pre-proposal and literature review.
- Design and write the capstone project pre-proposal.
- Prepare a literature review for the capstone project.
- Evaluate the pre-proposal of one or more peer students and provide recommendations for improvement.
