PUBH 524 - Biological and Environmental Determinants of Health


Description:
Biological and environmental factors play a significant role in the health of individuals and communities.  This course covers identification, prevention, and response to biological and environmental factors in public health. Course will be offered every year (Winter, Summer).

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Identify and describe the biological and environmental determinants of health.
  • Identify and describe the epidemiological triangle as it related to biological and environmental factors.
  • Synthesize the scientific evidence regarding biological and environmental determinants of health.
  • Apply the steps in the risk-assessment and risk-management/prevention for environmental and biological determinants of health.
  • Evaluate the social, health, and economic impacts of biological and environmental agents.
