LAJ 549 - Juvenile Justice Description: Juveniles present many unique challenges for the contemporary justice system. This class will provide a baseline of information to students to allow them to work with these populations and be aware of their unique attributes. Course will not have an established scheduling pattern.
Prerequisites: Prerequisite: admission to the master of science program in law and justice or instructor permission.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify, discuss, and critique the primary theories that explain juvenile delinquency.
- Analyze the steps in the juvenile justice system and will be able to discuss the critical issues that are unique to juveniles.
- Analyze the history of juvenile justice and the evolutions in law ending with contemporary laws that regulate juvenile behavior and conduct.
- Develop, refine, and apply skills to read, explain, and critique modern social science research.
