This division of general studies is for students whose primary interest in the social science requires interdisciplinary programs and course selections which are not possible within single academic programs or established curricula.

General Studies Social Science
62 Credit Major
60 credits must be taken from the list of courses approved for the Social Science Major, 45 of which must be upper division. GEN 289 (1) and GEN 489 (1) are required courses. Required Courses
- 60 credits must be taken from the list of courses approved for the Social Science Major, 45 of which must be upper division. Students specializing in Social Sciences must take courses in at least three disciplines within the Major. No more than 15 credits may be numbered 490. Credits: (60)
General Studies Social Science
47 Credit Major
45 credits must be taken from the list of courses approved for the Social Sciences Major, 30 of which must be upper division. In addition, a 45 credit major must complete either a traditional departmental minor (20- 45 credits) or a second major, which may be either a traditional major or a General Studies major in either Humanities or Natural Science. GEN 289 (1) and GEN 489 (1) are required courses. Required Courses
- 45 credits must be taken from the list of courses approved for the Social Sciences Major, 30 of which must be upper division. Students specializing in Social Sciences must take courses in at least three disciplines within the Major. No more than 10 credits may be numbered 490. Credits: 45
- In addition, a 45 credit major must complete either a traditional departmental minor (20-45 credits) or a second major, which may be either a traditional major or a General Studies major with a different major. Credits: 20 to 45
