ART 216 - Art Beyond the West, 1492 to 1804

A historical survey of the art of the non-western world during the colonial period.

Prerequisites:
Prerequisite: ART 215.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Recognize major works of art by identifying artists, periods, national origins, titles and/or subject matter, and their significance to the history of art.
  • Describe the formal elements of various works of art.
  • Identify how works of art express the ideals and values of their respective civilizations and historical periods.
  • Demonstrate a comprehension of the basic developments in the history of art during European colonization.
  • Use the terminology of art history.
