BUS 343 - Intro to Business Development


Description:
An applied introduction to skills for developing new and enhancing existing business as well as an overview of the needs based selling process, prospecting, preparing for customer interactions, and developing networking tools for future opportunities.

Prerequisites:
Prerequisite: sophomore standing (45 credits) or higher.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Explain the organizational/functional difference in the perspective of growing revenues compared to that of cutting costs.
  • Recognize types and fundamental principles of negotiation.
  • Provide an overview of the needs-based selling process
  • Apply business development techniques across typical business development contexts.
  • Employ interpersonal influence techniques in dyad, team, and group contexts.
