CRBW 493 - Craft Brewing Practicum


Description:
Supervised practicum experience in craft brewing. May be repeated up to 12 credits. Permission by department.

Prerequisites:
Prerequisite: admission to the Craft Brewing program. Students must be 21 years of age or older.

Credits: (1-3)

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: 

  • Apply classroom concepts in recipe development, brewing, fermentation, and cellaring of beers.
  • Collect and interpret data of conditions during all stages of brewing, fermentation and cellaring.
  • Evaluate beers produced for quality and flavor using a sensory panel and analytical methods.
  • Compare and contrast produced beers to BJCP style guidelines proposing revisions to the recipe, or conditions to better match with BJCP style characteristics.
