BIOL 452 - Ornithology Description: Study of birds with special emphasis on anatomic and behavioral adaptations. Three hours lecture and two hours laboratory or field study per week.
Prerequisites: Prerequisite: BIOL 183.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Make accurate, organized observations of behavior, morphology, distribution, abundance, and habitat associations of avian fauna in the field.
- Identify local avifauna.
- Using museum skins, identify species and evolutionary relationships.
- Describe the relationships between body form and function for avian fauna.
- Articulate the role of museum collections in avian biology.
- Discuss and critique peer-review papers in avian ecology, evolution and behavior.
