BIOL 341 - Plant Taxonomy Description: Classification of vascular plants, using local flora. Two hours lecture and six hours laboratory per week; the course includes field trips and individual field work.
Prerequisites: Prerequisites: BIOL 183 or BIOL 200 or by permission.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify by sight ecologically important plants and spring blooming plants of our area
- Demonstrate ability to identify unknown plants using keys in Hitchcock and Cronquist
- Describe characteristics of key plant families
- Classify unknown plants to family
- Apply rules of nomenclature
- Explain basic systematic concepts
- Utilize subclass system for angiosperm families
- Prepare herbarium specimens
