Description:
Discussion and lecture course on Native American history from 1492 to the founding of the American Republic in 1789, and an introduction to the discipline and practice of ethnohistory, which combines traditional historical analysis with ethnographic concepts and research methodologies. HIST 434 and 534 are layered courses; students may not receive credit for both.
