ART 300 - Papermaking (Put on reserve as of 9/16/15.) Description: Hand papermaking techniques, exploring historical and contemporary works/methods. Watermarking, pigmentation, moldmaking, with emphasis on sheetforming and fiber preparation. May be repeated for credit. Put on reserve as of 9/16/15. Will go inactive 8/24/18.

Learner Outcomes: Students will be able to:
- Prepare fibers for papermaking, including a variety of fiber sources (linters, raw pulp, and plant fibers) and beating techniques (by hand, and using the Hollander Beater).
- Produce consistent, archival quality paper sheets.
- Design and produce a personal watermark for sheet forming.
- Prepare color pulps, through dye and pigmentation processes.
- Research and discuss historical and technical aspects of hand papermaking.
- Work safely with the materials and equipment in the paper studio.
